Interdependencies of care for the elderly in rural areas – a holistic perspective

IM ALTER AUF DEM LAND MOBIL BLEIBEN

A propos

Strategic planning decisions, for example, the construction of a retirement home or the designation of new specific land-use areas, are linked to demographic processes. The resulting interactions are sometimes complex and are not always considered in the planning process. For example, constructing a retirement home may lead to older people moving out of the surrounding single-family homes. The interdependency system is made even more complex by the influence of well-being, such as the accessibility of leisure facilities or green spaces. Another aspect to be considered are subjective-spatial relationships. This complexity of possible interdependencies also results in a high complexity of the relevant data. Datasets differ in general availability, privacy restrictions, license, granularity reference systems, and more.

From a spatial perspective, the focus of the work is set to demographic processes in rural areas in Germany. Therefore, this work aims to develop a model for analyzing interdependencies, particularly between supply facilities, demographics, settlement structures, and individual well-being in rural areas in Germany.
